Belt Running Always Under Control!

The bernmatic® belt tracking roller is an adjustable support roller. Precise belt running is ensured by horizontal or vertical adjustment of the rollers. This system is suitable for use on conveyor installations already fitted with a belt tensioning system, where the main priority is only on belt control.

The belt tracking roller consists of the following main components:

  • supporting frame with support rollers
  • linear adjuster
  • belt edge sensors
  • switch panel with automation components and operating unit with touch panel

The Control Algorithm of the bernmatic® Belt Tracking Roller

Berndorf Band Engineering’s active belt control system monitors belt running continually, reliably controlling both transient and long-term disruptions. The modular bernmatic® control algorithm was developed in-house on the basis of decades of experience. 

The control roller can be adjusted horizontally or vertically in order to guarantee optimal control of the belt whilst at the same time ensuring flexible installation.The direction in which the belt control roller moves depends on its location and on belt edge loading.

  • Installation of the belt control roller near the deflection drum: maximum effect achieved by vertical adjustment of the roller.
  • Installation of the belt control roller near the middle of the belt: maximum effect achieved by horizontal adjustment of the roller. However, there are limits to this adjustment since its effect on the belt depends on friction forces. This adjustment is only of limited effect for certain degrees of undesirable belt running characteristics.

Our recommendation:

Horizontal adjustment imposes only a slight strain on the belt edges, so carry out a horizontal adjustment in both locations first. If a satisfactory result is not achieve by horizontal adjustment, you can change the adjustment to vertical.

Recorded data and trouble reports are not only displayed on the integrated monitor, but can also be integrated in your system. Spare pares are available for a long period of time, and can also be obtained from the manufacturer through the world-wide distribution network.
  •  Control of belt running independently of speed.
  • Installation and commissioning can be carried out on site by your own staff.
